CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND PRINCIPAL TEACHER – EMMA MCMAHON RAD, RTS, CBTS
Emma founded Bluebirds Ballet in 2010, she is dedicated to helping students learn the love of dance and reach their personal best. She recognises that children have different needs and abilities and ensures all students feel equally valued and engaged in the learning process. Emma’s classes provide an energised, creative and fun learning environment for children of all ages. Her technical classes are a joy and give the children a strong sense of body intelligence and control.
Emma is a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D) and has completed a Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies with the R.A.D. She has over ten years teaching experience in London. Her students over the years have received excellent exam results and success with admissions into the Royal Ballet School and London Children’s Ballet.
NICOLE BECKER – COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR
British, but raised in Switzerland, Nicole came to London in 1995 to study Cultural Studies & Sociology at Goldsmiths College, University of London and has a foundation degree in Psychology from Regents College, London. Nicole started ballet at the age of 3 and studied at the Ballett Berufsschule Zurich as well as at the Ballettschule fuer das Opernhaus Zurich. Nicole has extensive experience in setting up businesses and providing customer service – by founding and running her own concierge company in 1998 and opening a healthy fast food restaurant in 2004. Nicole, now a mother of two young children, joined Bluebirds Ballet School in 2013 was appointed Commercial Director of the school in August 2017.
NATASHA CALE RAD RTS – DDE & DDI ISTD – AISTD – BA (Hons) Theatre Dance
Miss Natasha has been with Bluebirds Ballet School since it’s first week of opening! She trained at London Studio Centre, graduating from the University of the Arts, London with a BA (Hons) degree in Theatre Dance. Having spent 5 years working as a professional dancer, Miss Natasha turned her head to teaching, fulfilling a passion she has held since childhood.
After completing her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD), Miss Natasha is now fully qualified to teach both RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern.
Miss Natasha is proud to have maintained a 100% pass rate for all exam students to date, and earlier this year had her first student accepted into Junior Associates of Royal Ballet School and London Children’s Ballet. Miss Natasha adores teaching and brings warmth and fun to her classes whilst still maintaining a strong technique and understanding of the discipline required for the dancing world. Her pre-school classes are enchanting and each child is taken on a magical journey – a perfect way to begin their dancing life!
MEGAN METTS BA (Hons) Ballet Education RAD RTS
Miss Megan began dancing at the age of 3, and trained at the Royal Academy of Dance and graduated with a BA (Hons) Ballet Education.
During her time on the course she taught and assisted in RAD ballet classes across London, as well as assisting in choreography for school productions; all alongside continuing her own ballet training. She has a passion for early years dance education and the wish to pass on her love for classical ballet. Megan commenced with Bluebirds Ballet in 2014. Her classes are a delight and enjoyed by all, she is a very valued member of our team.
BETHANY WOOD – BA (Hons) BALLET EDUCATION RAD, DDI ISTD IMPERIAL BALLET
Miss Beth grew up in Herefordshire and began dancing at the age of 4, going on to complete her vocational Ballet and Modern exams with the ISTD at Insteps Dance Academy, Ludlow. Developing a strong passion for dance, she decided to pursue a career in ballet teaching. Miss Beth attended Janet Marshall’s Dance Centre, Cheltenham to gain her DDI in Imperial Ballet before successfully gaining a place on the BA (Hons) Ballet Education programme at the Royal Academy of Dance in September 2016. Whilst studying, Beth expanded her expertise by becoming a certified Progressing Ballet Technique teacher, which she now teaches on top of syllabus and non-syllabus ballet lessons in a range of dance schools in London.
Miss Beth is very excited to bring her eclectic knowledge of ballet to Bluebirds Ballet School.
ANNA FORBES – TRINITY DIPLOMA & PROFESSIONAL DANCERS TEACHING DIPLOMA (RAD)
Miss Anna began dancing from the age of 2 at The Lindsay School of dance. She was also an associate of Scottish Ballet following which she gained a place at The Royal Ballet School. Her time at White Lodge was very special as she got the opportunity to dance with The Royal Ballet Company in the The Nutcracker for three seasons, also Swan Lake for 2 seasons, and in her penultimate year, Sleeping Beauty.
She completed her vocational training at Elmhurst School for dance in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, where she gained her Trinity Diploma in professional dance. She has been teaching a variety of dance styles on a semi regular basis throughout her performing career from RAD syllabus classes to delivering musical theatre workshops to a range of ages. Her real love for working with children allows this profession to be extremely rewarding and fulfilling. Miss Anna is delighted to be in the position to pass on her knowledge and love for dance to the future generations and is very excited to be joining the teaching team at Bluebirds dance school in Sept 2018 and is very much looking forward to meeting all the students.
LAURA CLARKE – BA (Hons) BALLET EDUCATION RAD RTS
Miss Laura was born in Wales. Finding a passion and natural flair for ballet, she pursued a career as a dancer and teacher, performing in competitions and shows as well as assisting and choreographing alongside her dance teachers and peers.
Entering the Royal Academy of Dance in 2015 Laura assisted and taught various dance styles within a range of sectors in and around London, graduating with a BA (hon) in Ballet Education in 2018. Alongside her studies she continued to stay on top of moving trends, issues and breakthroughs in dance. Miss Laura is currently in pursuit of her Advance 2 whilst looking to inspire and guide as a teacher at Bluebirds Ballet School for many years to come.
CHRYSOULA ANTONIOU – PERFORMANCE & TEACHING DIPLOMA IN CONTEMPORARY & CLASSICAL DANCE
Miss Chrissy was born and raised on the sunny island of Cyprus. She began dancing ballet at an early age and hasn’t stopped since. After starring in a number of performances with her local Ballet School, she went to Athens, to continue her Studies. She graduated with a Diploma in Classical Ballet & Contemporary Dance from Niki Kontaksaki’s Professional School of Dance in 2016. She also had the chance to perform with a number of well-respected choreographers during her time there. Now in London, she is delighted to have joined the Bluebirds Ballet School Team.
She has always loved teaching, and welcomes the challenges and joys that come when working with children.
Having trained in the Russian style of Agripina Vaganova, she’s now expanding her teaching skills and knowledge with the RAD Syllabus.
JESSICA MULCAHY – BA (Hons) BALLET EDUCATION RAD RTS
Miss Jessica grew up and trained in Ireland. In 2013, she came to London to study at the Royal Academy of Dance gaining a BA (Hons) in Ballet Education in 2016. Jessica is qualified as an RAD Registered Teacher with a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance. Miss Jessica is very interested in fostering children’s creativity through each of her ballet lessons along with instilling technique, musicality and performance quality to each of her students. Jessica is a freelance ballet teacher working in various ballet schools in London and is excited to start working with Bluebirds Ballet School.
All teachers associated with Bluebirds Ballet have an enhanced CRB/DBS clearance and the school carries Employee and Public Liability insurance.
Parent Teacher Night
At Bluebirds Ballet we offer once a term a parent teacher evening for you to discuss your child’s progress and receive feedback on their achievements directly from their teacher and to answer any questions you may have about their ballet training.
