We are delighted to introduce you to The Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme (ATAP) at Bluebirds Ballet School. It brings The Royal Ballet School’s renowned training to recreational settings, raising the standard of dance education while adapting to the evolving art form. Children with a passion for ballet can follow the ATAP course in addition to their RAD syllabus programme.
ATAP takes a holistic approach, blending performance with knowledge of repertoire, choreography, and appreciation. Students gain a deeper understanding of dance by connecting their training to both historical and contemporary works.
Rather than following a fixed syllabus, ATAP focuses on quality learning over formal exams. Teachers create personalised assessments, and progress is reviewed by The Royal Ballet School.
Training covers four core areas:
· Ballet vocabulary – clear, accessible step learning
· Body conditioning – balance, coordination, stamina, strength
· Creative practice – choreography, improvisation, musicality
· Repertoire study – insight into iconic ballets from the Royal Opera House
With 100 training hours per level (just 10 spent on assessment), the programme promotes depth of learning.
As an ATAP Affiliate Teacher, Miss Emma guides her students through a process-oriented approach, drawing on The Royal Ballet School’s ethos to offer an enriching, personalised learning journey.
